Miličić Dingač

Vintage: 2018 Grape variety: Plavac Mali 100% Ageing: Stainless steel Origin: Dingač / Pelješac Peninsula Alcohol: 14.5% Closure: Natural cork Volume: 0.75l Pavo Miličić from Potomje on Pelješac is a former naval captain who, after 30 years at sea, turned his hand to winemaking. Though the Dingač vineyard itself is an exceptional site for wine production, even within this prestigious location, there are subtle differences in grape quality. On these particularly prized plots, Miličić has planted a total of 15,000 vines (and a further 50,000 across other sites on Pelješac). The wine displays a deep, ruby-red colour and excellent consistency. Its noble aromas immediately reveal the richness and power of Plavac Mali from the finest sites on Pelješac. The bouquet blends spice notes of orange peel and carob with smoky hints of leather and toasted almonds. Currently, Miličić uses a mix of French and Hungarian oak, though he is phasing out the Hungarian in favour of French. The high alcohol content (15.1%) is well integrated with the other structural elements. On the palate, it is rounded, soft and finishes with solid length—dry and full-bodied. The wine is already supple, but it should not be rushed; it has the potential to age gracefully for many years. Like all Dingač wines, it needs time in the bottle to fully mature.
