Slavonia

Vintage: 2022 Grape variety: Cabernet Franc 100% Ageing: Large oak casks Origin: Baranja, Slavonia Alcohol content: 14.5% Closure: Natural cork Volume: 75cl Cabernet Franc is almost a rarity among wines, as it is rarely found as a single-varietal wine. Instead, it is usually blended with other red varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) in the famous Bordeaux blends. This is a wine of the highest quality, crafted by selecting the finest grapes from the best vineyard sites, with a reduced yield per vine. This approach results in smaller quantities of exceptional wine. The wine matured for 14 months in 500-litre oak casks before being bottled, where it continued to develop. What makes this wine special is that it has been allowed to evolve naturally with minimal intervention from winemaking techniques. As a result, the wine is unfiltered and may contain sediment in the bottle. The wine boasts an intense ruby-red colour. Its bouquet is complex and layered, with notes of plum, violet, blackberry, smoke, and leather. On the palate, it is soft and warm, with silky, ripe tannins. The acidity of 5.7 g/l balances beautifully with a full-bodied structure. Dry on the finish, the wine’s powerful 14.5% alcohol lends a sense of sweetness.

Vintage: 2022 Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Merlot Ageing: Large oak barrels, barrique Origin: Baranja, Slavonia Alcohol content: 13.5% Closure: Natural cork Volume: 0.75l The Josić Cuvée Superior matures in 500-litre Slavonian oak barrels, with a portion aged in new 225-litre barrique casks. Before bottling, the wine rests for at least 18 months in barrels, continuing its maturation and second life in the bottle. The foundation of this wine is built on Cabernets (Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon), complemented by smaller proportions of Syrah and Merlot. A mature wine, ready to enjoy now yet with excellent ageing potential, without losing its allure. The 13.5% alcohol is seamlessly integrated into its robust, structured body, with fully ripened tannins contributing to a smooth mouthfeel. The bouquet is complex, fruity with notes of berry-like forest fruits, spiced hints of cinnamon and vanilla, and a pleasant, lingering aroma of aged red wine reminiscent of black pepper. The total acidity of 6 g/l is perfectly balanced with the remaining 4.0 g/l of unfermented sugar, keeping this wine firmly in the dry category.

Vintage: --- Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Alicante Bouschet Ageing: Semi-sweet, matured in large oak barrels, barrique Origin: Baranja, Slavonia Alcohol content: 13.5% Closure: Natural cork Volume: 0.75l This exceptional semi-sweet cuvée is crafted by blending three grape varieties (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet) from two different vintages (2017 & 2018). The foundation of this blend is the 2018 Cabernet Franc, whose grapes were dried on the vine to concentrate sugars, aromas and flavours of overripe cherries, raisins and dried figs. The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon adds refinement, introducing subtle notes of caramel, leather and tobacco to the wine. The wine’s deep ruby hue with garnet undertones is preserved through ageing in oak barrels. It boasts a robust, full-bodied structure, a long, balanced finish with ripe tannins, fine acidity and a silky texture. With 13.0% alcohol by volume and a moderate sweetness of 17g/l residual sugar, this wine is perfect for everyday drinking and pairs beautifully with desserts.

Vintage: 2019 Grape variety: Merlot Ageing: Barrique Origin: Baranja, Slavonia Alcohol content: 13.5% Closure: Natural cork Volume: 0.75l Merlot is the second most widely planted grape variety in the world after Cabernet Sauvignon. Historically, it was used in the classic blends of Bordeaux, but its reputation as a standalone variety is more recent. Though widely cultivated, it thrives best in warmer climates, where it produces its finest results. This quintessential "French" grape has taken deep root in the fertile soils of Baranja, further enriching the winemaking heritage of the Josić estate. This outstanding wine captivates with its softness and silky tannins, the result of 18 months of maturation in Slavonian oak barrels. Its delicate ruby-red hue with subtle garnet highlights immediately suggests a wine for everyday enjoyment. The bouquet is refreshing, dominated by notes of blueberries and damson plums. The medium-bodied palate delivers a smooth, velvety texture. A long, rich finish belies the wine’s impressive 13.5% alcohol, while a pleasant 5.5 g/l total acidity ensures a harmonious freshness throughout.
