This Felline Anarko from Accademia dei Racemi is a red wine made from Malvasia Nera, Primitivo and Negroamaro grapes by Felline Gregory Perrucci from the town of Manduria in Puglia. It was this wine that first brought international acclaim to the winery.

On the nose, it reveals a captivating bouquet of cassis, cherries, plums, cedar, tobacco, leather, cocoa, mocha, pepper, cloves, bay leaves, mint, thyme, olives, orange zest, cardamom, violets and hawthorn. On the palate, it delivers powerful elegance, complexity and juiciness, with dense, velvety tannins, spicy fruit, vibrant tension and an almost endless finish.

Traditionally specialising in southern French varieties like Grenache, Carignan and Syrah, in 2005 the winery launched an ambitious project in the Korlat vineyard, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The terroir of Korlat consistently delivers healthy grapes, allowing the estate to forgo chemical treatments entirely. The first vintage of Syrah Korlat (2007) was awarded the Grand Gold Medal at Vinitaly 2011 in the red wine with geographical indication category! Pairs beautifully with duck/goose, semi-hard cheese, beef braise, lamb or steak.

BOUQUET: Sweet red fruits and spice, with hints of boxwood, tea and amber. PALATE: The flavour of red fruits is balanced by a robust but not overpowering alcohol presence, while firm tannins and fresh acidity lend structure and elegance. FOOD PAIRING: Ideal with roast veal, beef and lamb, game, or mature cheeses. REFINEMENT: After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for around 6 months in second- and third-fill barriques. CELLARING POTENTIAL: Enjoy now or cellar for 3–4 years to see it develop further.
