Dalmatia
Die Weinregion Dalmatien erstreckt sich über Länge von 330 km der Küste entlang und dazu gehören über 900 kleine und größere Inseln. Und überall gibt es Wein, überwiegend Rotwein. Und hier dominiert der Plavac mali die Weingärten an der Küste und den Inseln wir Hvar, Brač, Vis oder Korčula. Und da ist ja noch die Halbinsel Pelješac mit den berühmten Lagen Dingač und Postup. Plavac mali ist aber natürlich nicht die einzige Traube, die hier angebaut wird. Alleine aus der unmittelbaren Verwandschaft kommen Babić, Plavina und einige mehr Sorten hinzu. Und vor allem der Crljenak, auch Tribidrag genannt, der ja der original Zinfandel ist und somit auch der original Primitivo ist. Geschmacklich haben sich die Sorten zwar unterschiedlich entwickelt, aber gemeinsam haben sie ihren Ursprung in der Gegend von Kaštela, unweit von Split. Weitere atutochthone Sorten die bemerkenswert sind, sind z.B. Lasina, Trnjak und Vranac, die in kleineren Anbaugebieten sehr gute Qualitäten hervorbringen. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot und Syrah sind natürlich auch in den sonnigen und warmen Regionen Damlatien zu finden, auch als Cuvées.

The first vintage of Syrah Korlat (2007) was awarded the Grand Gold Medal at Vinitaly 2011 in the red wine with geographical indication category! Pairs beautifully with duck/goose, semi-hard cheese, beef braise, lamb or steak.
