Vinarija Benkovac has built an international reputation with its Korlat wines. While Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot here yield outstanding wines, they also produce an exceptionally fine grape spirit. Crafted from the fresh grape must of these varieties, the Loza boasts a rich golden hue and the aromatic profile of the Korlat wines. This spirit matures for a year in the oak barrels that previously housed the Korlat wines during their ageing process.
At the 2013 International Spirits Challenge (ISC), the Loza Barrique was awarded a commendable Bronze Medal among over 1,000 entries.Die kleine Ortschaft Korlat liegt unweit von Benkovac im Nordalmatinischen Hinterland. Vor einigen jahren startete Badel1862 hier ein ehrgeiziges Projekt. In dieser kargen Landschaft wurden neue Weingärten angelegt, mit dem Ziel, Reben für große Weine mit internationalem Format zu produzieren. Und das Projekt gelang. Mit dem Jahrgang 2007 begann man reinsortige Weine aus Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon und Merlot zu vermarkten.
