Stina Tribidrag is an elegant wine with soft tannins, pronounced fruitiness and balanced acidity. The 12-month ageing in barrique barrels helps to soften the tannins and round off the flavour. The subtle oak notes complement the wine’s natural character.
The Tribidrag grape variety (also known as Crljenak kaštelanski) became famous in Italy as Primitivo and in the USA as Zinfandel. In its native Croatia, however, it had almost disappeared. In recent years, Tribidrag has experienced a remarkable revival.
The Stina Tribidrag is made from grapes sourced from a single vineyard. This vineyard is located on the northern side of the island of Brač, near the village of Postira, on a slope that provides ideal conditions for the growth and development of this variety. The grapes are hand-picked.
In the cellar, the grapes are carefully selected and cooled before being transferred to stainless steel fermentation tanks, where the temperature is constantly regulated. Maceration lasts 2 to 3 weeks. It is crucial that the grapes are harvested at the optimal ripeness to preserve the wine’s natural fruitiness. Once fermentation and maceration are complete, the grapes are pressed and prepared for ageing.
The wine is aged for 12 months in French barrique barrels that have been used 2 to 3 times. The aim is to further soften the tannins, which are naturally mild in Tribidrag, while ensuring the oak influence enhances rather than overpowers the wine. This approach allows the subtle barrique notes to complement the grape’s characteristic fruitiness. After ageing, the wine is bottled and rests for at least six months before being released.
The label is exceptional. The information on the front is embossed rather than printed.
