From Frano Milina Bire, a wine pioneer from Lumbarda in south-eastern Korčula/Dalmatia, comes this dry, native white wine. The name of the grape variety Grk (meaning "the Greek" in German) hints at its origins. Grk is almost exclusively grown in the Lumbarda region. Biodynamic farming on stony soil. Aged in stone/steel tanks. 5,000 bottles.
Opulent nose, yellow fruit, exotic aromas and very ripe pear. On the palate, moderate acidity, complex and full-bodied. The aromas on the nose are mirrored on the palate, with nuances of wild fennel accompanying a brilliant ripeness. The long finish is accompanied by fine minerality and subtle bitterness.
Overall, a vibrant, structured wine that, despite its full body and relatively high alcohol content, is neither heavy nor fat, but elegant and sleek with plenty of finesse.

Die Familie Bire ist einer der bekanntesten Grk-Erzeuger auf der Insel Korčula. Ihr Weingut ist von der Hauptstraße aus gut ausgeschildert, und man stellt sich auf eine grösseres Weingut ein. Dalmatinische, traditionelle Steinhäuser, ergänzt um einen neuen modernen Keller beheimaten die Produktion eines der gesuchtesten Weine Kroatiens. Ivo Mariner (das jüngste Mitglied der Bire-Familie) verriet uns, dass j hrlich nur 5.000 Flaschen Grk und 10.000 Flaschen Plavac Mali hergestellt werden.

Frano Bire ist einer der gro en Namen in Kroatien. Ihm ist es gelungen, das Beste aus der alten Rebsorte Grk herauszuholen und einen au ergew hnlichen Plavac aus seinen sehr alten Weinbergen zu erzeugen. Seine Weine sind sehr begehrt und selten zu finden.

Der Bire Grk hat Aromen von Brot, weißen Gewürzen und Melone, mit einem großzügigen Gaumen, der an Pinot Gris erinnert. Die Länge ist, wie es für diese Rebsorte typisch ist, sehr gut. Der Wein wird in einem neuen Keller, in Edelstahl unter Temperaturkontrolle vinifiziert. Während der Gärung wird kein Schwefel verwendet.
