Pinot Noir is a grape variety that demands exceptional care in the vineyard, but rewards the winemaker with a wine of irresistible aroma. The creation of the Šoškić winery’s Pinot Noir begins with meticulous attention in the vineyard at the heart of the Rebri site, on the slopes of the beautiful Plešivica region, above Jastrebarsko.

The winery’s philosophy prioritises quality over quantity, resulting in low yields but highly concentrated berries. After fermentation, the wine is aged in 500-litre barrels, where it matures for 12 months, developing complexity and depth with a subtle integration of oak nuances. Once barrel ageing is complete, the wine is bottled and spends a further 6 months maturing in the controlled environment of the cellar. This bottle-ageing phase enhances the wine’s character further, ensuring it is perfectly balanced and ready to drink upon release.

The Šoškić Pinot Noir displays a lovely bright, vibrant ruby-red colour, with aromas of ripe cherries, Marasca cherries, butter, oak, toast, stewed plums, black earth and baked raspberry tart.

On the palate, it is soft, fresh and fruity, wonderfully balanced with a delicate minerality that lends a delicious texture to the tongue. The tannins are few, ripe and of an exceptionally fine structure.

Serve in a large Burgundy glass at 16°C alongside dishes such as roast duck or goose with minced meat in poultry fat, roast beef with raspberry or strawberry coulis, and various medium to full-bodied dishes with medium to intense aromas and robust accompaniments.
