Riesling is considered by many to be the king of white wines. It has a rich history with German and French roots. The Šoškić Riesling comes from the Plešivica region, where it grows in the Gorička area.
The grapes are hand-picked and carefully selected, then pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. This allows us to precisely monitor and control the temperature and conditions for optimal yeast activity. After fermentation, our Riesling is transferred to large old oak barrels, where it matures for a year. During the first three months of maturation, the wine is gently stirred on the fine lees. This technique enriches the wine’s texture and gives it subtle complexity, resulting in a Riesling that is both elegant and expressive of its terroir.
Golden yellow with bright hues, greenish reflections, medium intensity and slow, silky tears. A clean, fruity-floral bouquet of fine quality and delicate aromatic intensity, with notes of petrol that will captivate you. White lily and lily of the valley, alongside fruit notes of apple and vineyard peach. Wonderful freshness, beautifully balanced by extract and a lingering finish that echoes the aromas rising from the glass. Medium, restrained flavour intensity. A pleasant, finely chalky minerality on the palate, even with a hint of salinity, leaves a refreshingly light and crisp sensation.
Depending on the stage of ripeness, peak maturity is reached in about 4 to 5 years, with a very long lifespan of at least 15 to 20 years, possibly more. Best enjoyed in a Riesling glass at 10–12°C. Pair it with fresh, uncooked shellfish, white fish ceviche, or light dishes with lower aromatic intensity, lightly acidic without the sweetness of carbohydrates or glycogen.
